Job summary

Shepeard Community Blood Center is seeking an individual to prepare blood components in accordance with FDA and AABB guidelines. You will follow SOPs, adhere to departmental policies, and support team members to ensure high-quality donor and patient services.

The role requires effective communication, basic computer skills, and the ability to work autonomously in a laboratory setting. Physical activity includes standing for long periods and lifting up to 60 pounds, with training to be completed

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective interaction with coworkers and SCBC personnel.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Ability to function autonomously in a laboratory setting, demonstrating initiative and dependability.
  • Physical capability to perform manual labor while standing 100% of the time, with occasional lifting of up to 60 pounds.
  • Successful completion of on-the-job training/orientation within six months.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare blood components following standard operating procedures.
  • Adhere to SCBC/department policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Support other team members in the laboratory and Hospital Services, promoting positive customer relations to achieve internal harmony and repeat business.
  • Perform assigned daily routines promptly.
  • Work collaboratively with departmental employees as a team to provide the highest quality service to donors and customers.
  • Report to the Assistant Director of Technical Services or their designee.

Job description

Under the direction of the Lab Team leader, prepare blood components from donor blood in accordance with FDA and AABB guidelines to ensure the safety of blood products for patient use and further manufacturing.

  • Preparebloodcomponentsfollowingstandardoperatingprocedures.
  • AdheretoSCBC/departmentpolicies,procedures,andguidelines.
  • SupportotherteammembersinthelaboratoryandHospitalServices,promotingpositivecustomerrelationstoachieveinternalharmonyandrepeatbusiness.
