Job summary

Raytheon’s Tucson-based team is seeking a senior engineer leader to manage component engineering and obsolescence programs, while supporting hiring and design reviews. You will drive cost-efficient execution within Hardware Engineering and participate in department initiatives.

Your work will include leading cross-functional teams, developing BIDs/BOEs, and ensuring part suitability for military/aerospace programs with a strong focus on compliance and risk mitigation.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Parts Standardization applied within the design process.
  • Experience developing component drawings/data and selecting part applications to meet program objectives.
  • BOM development and obsolescence management experience.
  • Experience developing proposal BIDs/BOEs (Basis of Estimates).

This is an onsite position in Tucson, AZ



What You Will Do


  • Manage team of component engineers and program obsolescence leads.

  • Performance Management and Career Development Activities

  • Support Hiring Efforts (e.g. resume reviews, interviews, hiring events, etc.)

  • Involvement in Independent Gate and Design Reviews

  • Effective and Efficient program execution to reduce risk/cost through engagement with program IPTs

  • Be an active participant within the functional leadership team supporting business activities within Hardware Engineering

  • Support and/or Drive Department Initiatives and Goals

  • Lead Department / Section strategic initiatives.

  • Development of Proposal BIDs/BOEs (Basis of Estimates).

  • Leading/Managing Projects (e.g. schedules, financial, resources, etc.).



Qualifications You Must Have


  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.

  • Experience with Parts Standardization application within the design process.

  • Experience with the development of associated component drawings/data and the determination of part applications to meet program objectives.

  • BOM development, and obsolescence management experience.

  • Experience in developing proposal BIDs/BOEs (Basis of Estimates).



Qualifications We Prefer


  • Familiarity with EEE (Electrical, Electronic, Electromechanical) part applications in conditions and environments associated with Impulse (single shot) systems encountering extreme conditions related to launch, flight trajectory, vehicle boost into exo-atmosphere, and vehicle reentry.

  • Experience to successfully support regular Government Customer interactions, including the Missile Defense Agency, Navy, Army, and Air Force, responding to and/or submitting proposals, contract negotiations, and general status meetings.

  • Understanding of PCB design, manufacturing and assembly.

  • Previous work history of achieving alignment and collaboration between various disciplines in order to achieve organizational and programmatic objectives.

  • Experience and understanding of IPC and MIL specifications and design guides

  • Knowledge of component selection, screening, qualification, and derating for military and aerospace flight applications. Knowledge of Component MIL drawings, standards, test specifications, and associated QPLs and QMLs

The salary range for this role is 107,500 USD - 204,500 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.

  • This role is a U.S.-based role. If the successful candidate resides in a U.S. territory, the appropriate pay structure and benefits will apply.
