Job summary

Lockheed Martin in Orlando, FL seeks a Component Engineer to own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of EEEE components. You will select, qualify, test, and troubleshoot parts, while coordinating documentation, supplier coordination, and issue resolution across programs.

You will prepare SCDs, review supplier test reports, and guide failure‑analysis activities within the EEEE domain. Strong collaboration and strict traceability are essential.

Qualifications

  • BS in Electrical Engineering or closely related STEM field; MS preferred.
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Component Engineering or related areas (card manufacturing, SMT, thermal profiling, etc.).
  • Knowledge of electrical component parameters and packaging.
  • Proficient with obsolescence tools (Silicon Expert, IHS BOM Intelligence).
  • Proficient with PLM tools (Windchill).
  • Knowledge of MIL‑STD‑883, MIL‑STD‑38534, MIL‑PRF‑55342, MIL‑PRF‑55681.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of EEEE components: selecting, qualifying, testing, and troubleshooting parts.
  • Coordinate project documentation to meet customer contracts and LockheedMartin requirements.
  • Prepare and maintain Component Source Control Drawings (SCDs) and related drawings.
  • Evaluate suppliers and recommend qualified vendors for EEEE parts.
  • Lead or support PSPB/N PSPAR processes in PMPCB meetings.
  • Review and approve engineering drawings, SCDs, and docs for subcontractor components.
  • Maintain configuration control and traceability of component data across the lifecycle.
  • Provide technical guidance to cross‑functional teams and subcontractors.

You will be the Component Engineer on the LockheedMartin Missiles &Fire Control team. Our team ensures that every component used on LockheedMartin Missiles &Fire Control programs meets rigorous customer contract requirements and internal quality standards, from initial selection through final verification and failure analysis.

What You Will Be Doing

As the Component Engineer you will own the end‑to‑end lifecycle of EEEE components—selecting, qualifying, testing, and troubleshooting parts while driving documentation, supplier coordination, and issue resolution across the program. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting or participating in the selection, evaluation, qualification, testing, and failure analysis of electrical, electronic, electromechanical, and electro‑optical components.
  • Planning, directing, reviewing, and coordinating project documentation to ensure compliance with customer contracts and LockheedMartin requirements.
  • Preparing and maintaining Component Source Control Drawings (SCDs) and other baseline engineering drawings.
  • Evaluating suppliers, reviewing test reports, and recommending qualified vendors for EEEE parts.
  • Generating, reviewing, and approving Non‑Standard Part Approval Requests (NSPARs) during Parts, Materials, and Process Control Board (PMPCB) meetings.
  • Leading or supporting issue resolution on the Parts, Materials, and Process (PMP) board and guiding failure‑analysis activities within the EEEE domain.
  • Reviewing and approving engineering drawings, SCDs, and related documentation for subcontractor‑supplied components.
  • Maintaining configuration control and ensuring traceability of all component data throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Providing technical guidance to cross‑functional teams and subcontractors to achieve seamless integration of approved components.

MUST BE A U.S. CITIZEN - This position is located at a facility that requires special access. The selected candidate must be able to obtain a secret clearance.

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related STEM field from an accredited university; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Component Engineering or component‑related experience such as circuit card manufacturing, SMT process, thermal profiling of critical components, troubleshooting, cable assembly, and understanding of component commodity and package types including moisture‑sensitive parts
  • Demonstrated knowledge of electrical component parameters and packaging
  • Proficient with component engineering obsolescence tools (Silicon Expert, IHS BOM Intelligence)
  • Proficient with product lifecycle tools such as Windchill PLM
  • Knowledge of high‑reliability military component standards and specifications (e.g., MIL‑STD‑883, MIL‑STD‑38534, MIL‑PRF‑55342, MIL‑PRF‑55681)
  • Experience with software tools like Siemens Xpedition EDM Library Cockpit and PTC Windchill
  • Proficient with MS Office applications, especially Excel
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to travel to customer and supplier locations
  • Must be a US Citizen; must possess or be able to obtain a DoD Secret security clearance
Desired Skills
  • Experience in electrical component manufacturing process and physical property analysis
  • Experience in Component Engineering with knowledge of electronic components and devices
  • Electrical or Electronic Engineering experience (such as components or digital/analog design)
  • Material Science Engineer degree with electrical component experience, or an Electrical Engineer degree with component engineering experience
  • Experience with missile platforms
  • Knowledge of Parts Management Plan
  • MS-level technical degree in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering would be a plus
  • Experience with CSAM (C‑Mode Scanning Acoustic Microscopy) evaluation
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical test failures
  • Experience in Root Cause / Corrective Action
  • Experience in Plastic Encapsulated Device qualification testing
  • Experience with DPA (Destructive Physical Analysis) techniques
  • Knowledge of Military & Automotive Electronics Quality Standards
  • Active DoD Secret or Top Secret Clearance
Pay Information

Full-Time Salary Range: $85300.00 - $158300.00
