Responsibilities

  • Monitor the status of assigned SSOs to ensure each event is investigated, documented, and resolved per Consent Decree requirements.
  • Coordinate workflow and task handoffs between multiple departments and project teams to ensure timely completion.
  • Identify project delays, process gaps, or compliance issues and elevate concerns to leadership.
  • Ensure compliance with document management procedures and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of technical reports by gathering, organizing, validating, and analyzing data from multiple sources.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, databases, and compliance records.
  • Communicate with clients to provide project updates and develop collaborative solutions.
  • Present project findings and status updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Draft, review, and edit investigation reports, regulatory submissions, and technical memoranda.
  • Support continuous process improvements that enhance program efficiency and compliance.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Compliance Support Specialist provides program support for wastewater Consent Decree compliance activities by tracking the lifecycle of Sanitary Sewer Overflows (SSOs), coordinating activities across multiple departments, monitoring regulatory reporting requirements, and assisting with technical reporting and client communications. This position serves as a key liaison between project teams, clients, and leadership to ensure timely resolution of compliance-related activities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Requirements
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science, or a related applied science field.
  • 3–5 years of technical experience supporting wastewater collection or conveyance systems.
  • Working knowledge of wastewater infrastructure, sanitary sewer systems, and regulatory compliance programs.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, Outlook, and Access.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments simultaneously.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Experience managing or maintaining technical databases.
  • Experience supporting municipal wastewater Consent Decree programs.
  • Familiarity with Sanitary Sewer Overflow (SSO) reporting and regulatory compliance requirements.
  • Experience preparing technical reports for regulatory agencies or municipal clients.
COMPENSATION:

The anticipated salary range for this position is $87,000–$101,000 annually. Starting salary will be determined based on several factors, including:

  • Relevant professional experience
  • Education and technical qualifications
  • Industry knowledge and specialized skills
  • Experience supporting wastewater collection systems or Consent Decree programs
  • Overall alignment with the responsibilities of the position
