Job description

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Compliance Supervisor based in the United States. The Compliance Supervisor will lead a centralized national team responsible for audit readiness, regulatory compliance, risk management, licensing administration, and operational controls within post-closing services. This role plays a critical part in maintaining regulatory standards, mitigating business risks, and ensuring consistent compliance practices across multiple states and business units. You will oversee audits, regulatory inquiries, fraud prevention activities, financial exceptions, licensing requirements, and complex customer escalations. Working closely with Operations, Underwriting, Legal, Compliance, Risk, state agencies, and external partners, you will identify control gaps and drive effective corrective actions. The position also emphasizes team development, process optimization, documentation governance, and the implementation of consistent operating procedures. This is an opportunity for an experienced compliance professional to influence national operations, strengthen risk controls, and improve service quality in a dynamic, fully remote environment.

Accountabilities
  • Team Leadership and Development: Supervise and develop Audit & Compliance team members, establish performance expectations and service standards, conduct performance reviews, and promote accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence.
  • Audit Management: Coordinate internal and external audits, including underwriter, state regulatory, and operational audits; manage documentation requests, monitor findings, and ensure corrective actions are completed and tracked through resolution.
  • Regulatory Compliance and Licensing: Oversee individual and business licensing requirements across applicable jurisdictions, manage notary commissions and renewals, coordinate regulatory filings and responses, and communicate regulatory changes to relevant stakeholders.
  • Risk Management and Fraud Prevention: Supervise FinCEN, OFAC, FIRPTA, fraud prevention, and related compliance processes; oversee screening exceptions, investigations, alerts, and escalations in partnership with Legal, Compliance, and Risk teams.
  • Brand Partnership and Change Management: Collaborate with operational and brand leadership to identify compliance risks, recommend remediation plans, close control gaps, and implement new processes, technology solutions, and regulatory requirements consistently across business units.
  • Claims and Legal Requests: Coordinate claims inquiries, subpoenas, legal requests, and document production, ensuring responses are timely, accurate, and compliant while maintaining appropriate records retention and retrieval processes.
  • Operational Controls and Financial Oversight: Monitor shortages, collections, reimbursements, operational losses, trust account exceptions, and over-limit alerts; conduct root cause analyses and coordinate payment exceptions, tax refund reviews, and reconciliation activities as assigned.
  • Customer Service and Escalation Management: Oversee centralized email and phone support, customer complaints, earnest money deposit (EMD) disputes, and complex service issues while maintaining established response times and service standards.
  • Process Governance and Reporting: Develop and maintain standard operating procedures (SOPs), implement quality assurance controls, identify automation and risk-reduction opportunities, and prepare reports and dashboards to monitor performance and compliance trends.
  • Performance Improvement: Track audit outcomes, regulatory adherence, investigation resolution times, operational losses, customer complaint metrics, licensing accuracy, team productivity, and process improvement results.
Requirements
  • Relevant Experience: At least 5 years of experience in title, escrow, settlement services, mortgage operations, compliance, audit, risk management, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and industry experience may be considered.
  • Leadership Experience: At least 2 years of supervisory or leadership experience is preferred, including team coaching, performance management, employee development, and workflow oversight.
  • Industry Knowledge: Strong understanding of post-closing operations, title, escrow, settlement processes, and applicable regulatory and underwriting requirements.
  • Audit and Compliance Expertise: Experience coordinating audits, responding to regulatory inquiries, maintaining compliance records, developing corrective action plans, and ensuring findings are resolved effectively.
  • Regulatory and Risk Knowledge: Familiarity with title insurance operations, FinCEN, OFAC, FIRPTA, fraud prevention controls, regulatory standards, licensing administration, and notary requirements is preferred.
  • Operational and Financial Controls: Understanding of trust accounting, shortage remediation, exception reporting, operational loss analysis, and financial reconciliation processes.
  • Stakeholder Management: Experience collaborating with regulatory agencies, underwriters, auditors, legal teams, compliance professionals, and operational leaders.
  • Analytical Problem-Solving: Ability to assess risks, investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, and develop practical solutions that improve controls and reduce operational exposure.
  • Communication and Relationship Building: Strong written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, and the ability to manage sensitive issues, resolve conflicts, and coordinate cross-functional initiatives.
  • Process and Project Management: Demonstrated ability to improve workflows, maintain SOPs, introduce operational controls, manage competing priorities, and support organizational change.
  • Customer Service Orientation: Experience handling escalations, resolving complaints, and maintaining consistent service quality in a regulated operational environment.
