Qualifications

  • Experience 1–3 years in compliance or related role.
  • Two-year college degree or equivalent training.
  • Familiarity with federal consumer protection regulations (Reg Z, Reg DD, Reg B, Reg E, RESPA, HMDA).
  • Strong written and verbal communication, discretion with confidential information.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and manage the library of letters, forms, notices, and disclosures, ensuring current versions are used and updated as regulations change.
  • Review marketing materials, disclosures, forms, and member communications for regulatory accuracy prior to publication.
  • Manage document retention program and approval workflows within the DMS, verifying retention requirements before destruction.
  • Review policies for regulatory compliance and assist with impact assessments and policy updates.
  • Process subpoenas, levies, garnishments, and other law enforcement requests with proper documentation.
  • Answer routine compliance questions from staff and assist with examinations, audits, and internal reviews.
  • Serve as a cross-trained backup to the BSA/AML team, handling alert reviews, SAR/CTR support, and EDD during absences.

Compliance Specialist/FT Onsite/Nashua

Full Time Clerical 33 Franklin St Nashua 1st fl -Admin/Corporate, Nashua, NH, US

Role:

The Compliance Specialist I supports the Compliance Department in maintaining the credit union's adherence to applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and internal policies. This role assists with compliance monitoring, regulatory research, documentation, and training support across lending, deposit, and operational areas, and serves as custodian of the credit union's library of letters, forms, and notices. The position reports to the SVP of Compliance.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and manage the credit union's library of letters, forms, notices, and disclosures - tracking required updates from regulatory changes and internal policy revisions, routing revised documents through the approval process, and ensuring only current, approved versions are available for use. Assist with reviewing marketing materials, disclosures, forms, and member communications for regulatory accuracy prior to publication.
  • Manage the credit union's document retention program within the document management system, including reviewing records scheduled for purge to verify retention requirements are satisfied before destruction is approved. Assist with the review of credit union policies to ensure regulatory compliance, recommending updates in response to new or amended regulations. Conduct regulatory research and summarize new or amended regulations, assisting with impact assessments and policy updates.
  • Process subpoenas, levies, garnishments, and other law enforcement and legal requests, verifying validity, coordinating timely responses, and maintaining documentation of each request.
  • Respond to routine compliance questions from branch and back-office staff, escalating complex matters to the SVP of Compliance. Maintain compliance records, tracking logs, and documentation in support of examinations, audits, and internal reviews.
  • Serve as a cross-trained backup to the BSA/AML team, performing BSA functions including alert review and dispositioning, SAR/CTR support, and enhanced due diligence (EDD) during absences or periods of elevated volume, as needed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge and Skills:

Experience One year to three years of similar or related experience.

Education (1) A two-year college degree, or (2) completion of a specialized certification or licensing, or (3) completion of specialized training courses conducted by vendors, or (4) job-specific skills acquired through an apprenticeship program.

Interpersonal Skills Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.

Other Skills Be well versed on PC spreadsheet software. Proficient in Outlook 365 Based Systems. Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and written and verbal communication skills.

Ability to read and interpret regulatory materials and communicate requirements clearly.

Familiarity with federal consumer protection regulations, including Truth in Lending (Reg Z), Truth in Savings (Reg DD), Equal Credit Opportunity (Reg B), Electronic Fund Transfers (Reg E), RESPA, HMDA, and the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

High degree of integrity and ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
