Job description

Compliance Program Manager and Paralegal

By partnering with pediatric dentistry, orthodontic, and oral surgery practices across the country, we empower our teams with the technology, resources, and support they need to make a meaningful impact every day.

As the Compliance Manager & Paralegal, you will support SDB’s legal and compliance functions by helping the organization navigate healthcare regulations, manage risk, and maintain strong, practical compliance programs. You will partner with leaders and teams across the organization to interpret regulatory requirements, develop policies, conduct investigations, and provide day-to-day legal and compliance support.

This role is ideal for a detail-oriented professional who can balance regulatory requirements with business needs and communicate complex information clearly and confidently.

Your responsibilities will include:
  • Manage and support the ongoing development, implementation, and monitoring of SDB’s compliance program.
  • Help ensure compliance with applicable federal and state healthcare laws and regulations, including HIPAA, OSHA, fraud and abuse laws, and other dental and healthcare requirements.
  • Draft, review, update, and maintain compliance policies, procedures, training materials, and internal guidance.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and communicate relevant changes to appropriate leaders and business partners.
  • Coordinate and conduct internal compliance reviews, audits, risk assessments, and investigations.
  • Document findings, recommend corrective actions, and monitor remediation efforts through completion.
  • Support the administration of the organization’s compliance reporting and escalation processes.
  • Assist with preparing responses to regulatory inquiries, audits, subpoenas, and other legal requests.
  • Conduct legal and regulatory research and prepare summaries, reports, and recommendations for leadership.
  • Draft, review, organize, and maintain contracts, business associate agreements, legal correspondence, and other corporate documents.
  • Support entity management, licensing, registrations, and other corporate governance requirements.
  • Maintain organized and accurate legal and compliance records, including investigation files, policies, contracts, and regulatory documentation.
  • Assist with litigation holds, document preservation, discovery, and coordination with outside counsel when needed.
  • Develop and deliver compliance education and training for corporate and practice-level team members.
  • Partner with Operations, Human Resources, Clinical Leadership, Revenue Cycle Management, Information Technology, and other departments to promote a strong culture of compliance.
  • Serve as a trusted resource for employees and leaders seeking guidance on compliance-related questions.
  • Perform additional legal, regulatory, and compliance responsibilities as business needs evolve.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Legal Studies, Business Administration, Healthcare Administration, or a related field.
  • Paralegal certificate from an accredited program preferred.
  • Five or more years of relevant experience in compliance, healthcare, corporate legal support, or a paralegal role.
  • Experience within a healthcare, dental, physician practice management, or dental support organization environment strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of HIPAA, healthcare compliance, corporate governance, and federal and state regulatory requirements.
  • Experience conducting internal investigations, compliance audits, or risk assessments.
  • Experience drafting and reviewing policies, contracts, legal documents, and professional correspondence.
  • Certified in Healthcare Compliance (CHC) or a similar professional certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and legal, compliance, contract, or document-management systems.
What Makes You Successful:
  • You demonstrate sound judgment and handle sensitive or confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
  • You are highly organized and can manage multiple priorities, deadlines, and detailed workstreams.
  • You can interpret complex legal and regulatory information and translate it into clear, practical guidance.
  • You are comfortable working independently while collaborating closely with leaders and cross-functional partners.
  • You approach investigations and compliance concerns with objectivity, consistency, and attention to detail.
  • You are proactive in identifying risk and developing thoughtful, business-minded solutions.
  • You communicate clearly and confidently with team members at all levels of the organization.
  • You are comfortable navigating ambiguity and helping build processes in a growing, evolving organization.
