Job summary

State of Nebraska is seeking a Compliance Specialist at the YRTC-Lincoln 24-hour facility to uphold federal and state laws, investigate abuse complaints, and guide staff on policy interpretation. The role focuses on identifying compliance risks, documenting findings, and delivering training to staff.

You will coordinate investigations, file thorough reports, and contribute to accreditation efforts under ACA, PREA, and PBS standards, ensuring safe, compliant operations for Nebraskans.

Qualifications

• Post-high school coursework/training in criminal justice, law enforcement, or a human service-related field and experience with investigations, data or trend analysis or a related area.
• Two years of experience in conducting and facilitating training on administrative investigations.
• Knowledge and experience in American Correctional Association standards, Prison Rape Elimination Act standards and/or experience with accreditation standard preparation.
• Valid driver’s license or the ability to provide independent authorized transportation for work-related travel.

Responsibilities

• Travel to other DHHS Juvenile Facilities as needed to assist with compliance-related work as the floating Compliance Specialist.
• Conduct internal abuse/neglect investigations and prepare investigative reports with findings and conclusions.
• Interview witnesses, alleged perpetrators, and victims; collect statements and review camera footage and records.
• Prepare audit reports and provide recommendations to improve compliance and quality assurance.
• Testify before administrative and judicial bodies as required.
• Process, file, and track grievances/complaints and determine appropriate resolutions.
• Provide abuse/neglect training to new hires during orientation and as assigned.
• Observe treatment operations to identify compliance risks and suggest corrective actions.
• Assist in facility audits for ACA, PREA, and PBS accreditation.
