Qualifications

• Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, administrative services, building inspection, real estate appraisal, law enforcement, investigations, or in the issuance or recommendation of medical licenses.
• Six years of full-time work experience in any field.
• A bachelor's degree.
• Experience substitution: Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience toward the six years of full-time work experience in any field. Maximum substitution is 120 semester hours (up to four years).

• Receives information regarding actions or omissions by licensees that may represent a violation of the Nurse Practice Act.
• Develops and initiates investigative plans; conducts investigations, interviews, secures evidence, analyzes records.
• Notifies respondents of allegations per statutory requirements and case law.
• Prepares clear written reports and attaches pertinent records.
• Closes investigations within the Priority or Complaints guideline.
• Keeps Compliance Investigator 4B informed of issues and concerns.
• Utilizes the internal chain of command for communication.
• Participates in performance improvement activities and promotes process improvement.
• Works cooperatively as a team member, assisting other staff as needed.

OVERVIEW OF THE ROLE

To safeguard the life and health of the citizens of Louisiana by assuring that persons practicing as Registered Nurses and Advanced Practice Registered Nurses are competent and safe.

Classified WAE Appointment – This position will be filled as a part-time Classified WAE, limited to 1,245 working hours in a 12-month period.

The incumbent will investigate matters that impact Registered Nurse licensure, student eligibility, advancement/clinical progression, and report to the Compliance Team Leader. The incumbent will utilize sound judgment to interpret and apply policies, regulations, and procedures, and demonstrate initiative in handling non-routine situations. Requires the exercise of a high degree of confidentiality essential in the execution of administrative duties. Involves frequent contact with Registered Nurse licensees, applicants, student nurses, schools of nursing, employers, other state and federal agencies, hospital administrators, regulatory agencies, attorneys, and law enforcement agencies in Louisiana and nationwide, among others.

Three years of experience in accounting, auditing, administrative services, building inspection, real estate appraisal, law enforcement, investigations, or in the issuance or recommendation of medical licenses; OR

Six years of full-time work experience in any field; OR

A bachelor's degree.

EXPERIENCE SUBSTITUTION:

Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.

Job Duties:

• Receives information regarding actions or omissions by licensees and others that may represent a violation of the Nurse Practice Act;

• Develops and initiates investigative plans; conducts comprehensive investigations through interviewing, securing evidence and information related to the matter under investigation, analyzing records, among other activities.

• Timely notifies respondents of allegations/information in accordance with statutory requirements and case law.

• Prepares clear and concise written reports of investigations and attaches pertinent records to support the investigative report.

• Closes investigations within the Priority or Complaints guideline.

• Keeps Compliance Investigator 4B informed of issues and concerns within the area of responsibility.

• Utilizes the internal chain of command appropriately for communication purposes.

• Participates in performance improvement activities, continually improving all processes as opportunities for improvement arise.

• Works cooperatively as a member of the team, assisting and relieving other staff members as needed.

Compensation: The salary offered will be determined based on qualifications and experience.
