Job summary

The Georgia Lottery Corporation seeks a COAM investigator to conduct inspections and investigations across districts, reviewing licenses, records and equipment at venues offering coin operated amusement machines. You will prepare detailed reports and issue citations for non-compliance.

Responsibilities include interviewing witnesses, presenting findings in hearings and court, and testifying in prosecutions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Political Science or similar education in Law Enforcement preferred; with 3–5 years investigative, criminal process, civil liability, evidence handling, and preparation for prosecution experience.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is a plus.
  • Peace Officer certification and Instructor certification is preferred but not required.
  • Must have a valid state of Georgia driver’s license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record.

  • Complete detailed documentation and reports to include issuing citations for non-compliance.
  • Conduct interviews of witnesses and other persons involved in the investigation.
  • Present facts and findings of non-compliance in administrative hearings as well as civil and criminal court proceedings.
  • Prepare and evaluate reports relating to validation and sales activity from GLC system information including validation and sales records.
  • Prepare case filings and testify as a representative of the Georgia Lottery Corporation at judicial proceedings.
  • Conducting investigations both internal and criminal, maintaining case files, gathering evidence and information.
  • Testifying as a representative of the Georgia Lottery Corporation in criminal prosecutions for lottery related offenses.
  • Become a COAM subject matter expert and provide presentations, information and training to retailers, master license holders, law enforcement, public officials, Georgia Lottery Corporation staff and other stakeholders as necessary.
  • Assisting law enforcement agencies, prosecutors, witnesses, victims, players, complainants and other Georgia Lottery departments.

Job description

The purpose of this job is to conduct compliance inspections and investigations within districts to assist the Georgia Lottery Corporation (GLC) in its enforcement of Coin Operated Amusement Machines (COAM) laws and regulations according to Georgia statutes and GLC Rules and Regulations.

Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions

Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Public Administration, Political Science or similar education in Law Enforcement preferred, with a minimum of three to five years of investigative, criminal process, civil liability, evidence handling, and preparation for prosecution or related experience required; Experience with COAM/gaming is preferred; or any combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this job. Basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel is a plus. Peace Officer certification and Instructor certification is preferred but not required. Must have a valid state of Georgia driver’s license with a satisfactory motor vehicle record.
