Job summary

Job Location: This position will be located at 471 Siemers Drive, Suite H, Cape Girardeau, MO 63701

What You’ll Do
  • Responsible for the supervision of team members assigned to the Child Care Compliance section.
  • Responsible for the development and implementation of regional policies and procedures.
  • Review and explain state laws and regulations to regional staff and stakeholders.
  • Understand and apply federal laws, regulations, and guidance, as applicable for all child care facilities.
  • Collaborate with others within the Office of Childhood and across other regional offices to ensure consistency of inspection/investigation processes statewide.
  • Responsible for the development and oversight of any rules and regulations affecting child care facilities.
  • Oversee professional development training needs for regional staff.
  • Demonstrate regular, reliable, and engaged attendance.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited four-year college or university with a minimum of 15 earned credit hours in elementary or early education, sociology, psychology, child development, social work, or a closely related field, or other related area; and two or more years of professional or technical experience in child care licensing, elementary or early childhood education, social services for children, or experience in the provision of child care in a licensed family or group child care home, or a licensed or license exempt child care center.

OR

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited college or university with a minimum of 6 earned credit hours in elementary or early education, sociology, psychology, child development, social work, or a closely related field, or other related area; and four or more years of professional or technical experience in elementary or early childhood education, social services for children, or experience in the provision of child care in a licensed family or group child care home, or a licensed or license exempt child care center.

OR

  • Four or more years of professional or technical experience in child care licensing, elementary or early childhood education, social services for children, or experience in the provision of child care in a licensed family or group child care home, or a licensed or license exempt child care center and possession of a high school diploma or high school equivalency.
