The Corporate Contracts Manager oversees contract standards and contract risk review across Erickson-Hall’s projects. This position maintains the company’s master subcontract, reviews project-specific agreements and proposed changes, and helps project and administrative teams apply consistent contracting practices.

The role also manages course of construction (COC) insurance coverage across projects, reviews insurance obligations in company contracts, and evaluates subcontractor insurance variances. The Corporate Contracts Manager works with operations, preconstruction, office administration, the insurance broker, and outside counsel to identify risks, resolve routine issues, and elevate decisions that require executive or specialist review.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Contract standards and review

• Maintain and periodically review the company’s master subcontract and related contract exhibits. Recommend revisions based on changes in applicable law, insurance requirements, claims experience, and lessons learned through company operations.
• Review project-specific subcontract language, exhibits, flow-down provisions, and special conditions for consistency with company standards, prime contract obligations, and historical company experience.
• Review proposed subcontractor markups; approve changes within delegated authority and negotiate or elevate exceptions that materially affect company risk.
• Identify contract provisions that create unusual obligations or gaps in scope, payment, schedule, indemnity, dispute resolution, warranty, or insurance requirements.

Other agreements and business support

• Review and advise on consulting agreements, purchase agreements, design-build agreements, architectural agreements, and other agreements used by the company, focusing on business terms, operational feasibility, and allocation of risk.
• Partner with operations and preconstruction staff to understand how proposed contract terms will affect project delivery before recommending acceptance or changes.
• Provide guidance and training to office administration and project staff on contract procedures, standard language, documentation, and when to expand an issue.
• Coordinate with outside counsel on legal interpretation, significant contract disputes, or proposed changes that require legal advice.

Insurance and risk coordination

• Manage companywide COC insurance coverage for projects, including coordinating coverage needs, policy information, project enrollment or placement, renewals, and coverage changes with the company’s broker and internal teams.
• Review insurance requirements in owner contracts, subcontracts, and other agreements. Work with the broker and project teams to confirm that required coverage can be obtained, and that documented coverage aligns with contractual obligations.
• Review subcontractor insurance submissions and requests for variances from company requirements. Approve variances within delegated authority or elevate material coverage gaps and exceptions.
• Track insurance decisions and recurring variance requests to inform updates to company standards and contracting practices.
• Help resolve insurance and contract documentation issues that could delay agreement execution or project work.

Qualifications

• Experience administering or reviewing construction contracts, preferably for a commercial general contractor.
• Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Construction Management, Legal Studies, Paralegal Studies, or a related field preferred.
• Working knowledge of insurance certificates, bonding, contractor licensing, and compliance documentation.
• Working knowledge of subcontracts, owner agreements, professional services agreements, and construction insurance requirements.
• Ability to evaluate contract language in the context of project operations and explain risks and options clearly to people who do not work in contracts.
• Strong judgment, attention to detail, compliance driven, negotiation skills, and ability to manage multiple project deadlines.
• Experience coordinating with project teams, administrative staff, insurance brokers, and legal counsel.
• Familiarity with California public works or K–12 school construction is preferred.

Decision Authority

This position may approve subcontract markups and insurance variances within limits established by the company. Material departures from company standards, uninsured exposures, and matters requiring legal interpretation must be elevated to the appropriate executive, broker, or outside counsel before approval.

Success means project agreements are reviewed promptly, company standards are applied consistently, insurance obligations are understood and met, and teams receive practical guidance before contract issues become project problems.
