Job description

The world of digital assets is accelerating in speed, magnitude, and complexity, opening the door to new ways for leveraging the blockchain. Fireblocks’ platform and network provide the simplest and most secure way for companies to work with digital assets and it trusted by some of the largest financial institutions, banks, globally-recognized brands, and Web3 companies in the world, including BNY Mellon, BNP Paribas, ANZ Bank, Revolut, and thousands more.

Fireblocks is seeking a Compliance Associate to support the Sanctions, Anti-Money Laundering (AML), and Counter-Terrorist Financing (CTF) Compliance Programs of our regulated entities, Fireblocks Trust Company, LLC and Fireblocks LLC (the “Regulated Entities”).

This Compliance Associate will be primarily responsible for supporting the onboarding and ongoing monitoring for institutional customers of the Regulated Entities. This role will directly contribute to our compliance with applicable regulatory requirements by collecting, evaluating, and verifying customer documentation, reviewing risk indicators, and helping to ensure that onboarding and transaction processes meet legal and internal standards. This position requires a risk-based approach to compliance, ensuring that financial crime risks are identified, assessed, and appropriately managed in line with regulatory expectations and industry best practices.

This role reports to the Director of Compliance and will work closely with internal stakeholders to enhance compliance operations, manage regulatory requirements, and support the broader compliance framework.

What You'll Do
Customer Due Diligence & Onboarding
  • Collect and analyze documentation from institutional clients, including corporate formation documents, ownership structures, compliance policies, licensing, and regulatory approvals.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing risk assessments based on jurisdiction, customer profile, business activity, and ownership structure.
  • Evaluate the adequacy and completeness of customer due diligence files in line with regulatory requirements and internal policies.
  • Coordinate with internal stakeholders (e.g., Sales, Legal, Customer Success) to ensure a seamless onboarding process.
  • Track onboarding progress and escalate high-risk issues for review.
AML Monitoring & Investigations
  • Review and disposition alerts generated through the transaction monitoring system, identifying potential suspicious activity.
  • Investigate name screening alerts (e.g., sanctions, PEPs, adverse media) and escalate true matches appropriately.
  • Conduct open-source and blockchain analytics-based investigations into customer activity or flagged transactions.
  • Assist in drafting Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) as needed under regulatory obligations.
Operational & Regulatory Support
  • Support the design and implementation of onboarding workflows and compliance processes.
  • Assist in the preparation for regulatory audits and examinations.
  • Maintain accurate and auditable records of due diligence and investigative findings.
  • Stay current with applicable laws, regulations, and guidance, including BSA/AML, FATF standards, and jurisdiction-specific licensing rules.
What You'll Bring
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Demonstrable interest in financial services, fintechs, or digital assets.
  • Knowledge of AML/KYC concepts, customer due diligence, and legal entities.
  • Strong investigative and analytical skills, with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to summarize complex matters clearly.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Nice to Have
  • CAMS, CGSS, or other AML/sanctions certifications.
  • An advanced degree in finance, business, or law (e.g., Masters, Juris Doctor).
  • Experience working in a crypto, fintech, payments, or Web3 compliance role.
  • Exposure to regulated financial services compliance (e.g., NYDFS Virtual Currency Business Licenses, MiCA, VASP frameworks).
  • Experience working with transaction monitoring and blockchain analytics tools (e.g., Chainalysis, Elliptic).

We operate on a hybrid work model with up to three days per week in-office, enabling our teams to benefit from face-to-face collaboration while maintaining flexibility.

For employees hired to work from New York, or from our NYC HQ, Fireblocks is required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This range is specific to New York City and takes into consideration a wide range of factors that are reviewed when making a hiring decision, such as years of experience, skills, and other business needs.

It is not typical for a candidate to be hired at or near the top of the pay range and each compensation decision is dependent on each individual case. A reasonable base salary range estimate for this position is $75,000-110,000. The base salary is one component of the total compensation package, which for some roles may include a target bonus, a competitive equity grant, and generous benefits.

While we believe competitive compensation is a critical aspect of your decision to join us, we do hope you also spend time considering why our mission and culture are right for you. We are creating something transformational here, and we hope you are as excited about the future as we are.

Fireblocks' mission is to enable every business to easily and securely access digital assets and cryptocurrencies. In order to do that, we strongly believe our workforce should be as diverse as our clients, and this is why we embrace diversity and inclusion in all its forms.
