Position Overview

The work you'll do is more than just a job. At the State of Minnesota, employees develop policies, provide essential services, and work to improve the well-being of all Minnesotans. The Department of Corrections seeks a Team Lead for the Complex Sentencing Modernization Project to manage audits, guide local records teams, and collaborate on modernization efforts, ensuring compliance with statutes, case law, and policies. This role involves providing recommendations, serving as a subject matter expert, and supporting sentencing and records strategies. Telework options are available for qualified applicants based on residence proximity.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Two years of project management experience, including coordination, planning, and implementation. A Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Public Administration, or related field may substitute for one year of experience.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across organizational levels.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, capable of conveying complex information simply.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Access, and experience with custom applications.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams, prioritize, multitask, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience with virtual technology platforms and coordinating training/events.
  • Strong writing skills for drafting policies, reports, and correspondence.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of the criminal justice system and sentencing policies.
  • Extensive knowledge of criminal sentencing authority and multi-jurisdictional sentencing laws.
  • Ability to adapt to organizational changes and work under pressure.
  • Experience as a lead worker supporting office administrative staff.
Additional Requirements

Finalists must review and sign a Physical Demands Analysis and may need to complete a tuberculosis screening. Background checks, including criminal history, offender registration, and references, are required. New employees will be fingerprinted within 30 days.
