Job summary

YMCA of Southwestern Indiana is seeking a Competitive Swim Director to oversee the competitive swimming program at the Deaconess Aquatic Center. The role reports to the Senior Aquatics Director and focuses on building partnerships with city officials, swim teams, and volunteers while prioritizing swimmer safety and well‑being.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent education and experience required.
• At least two years of competitive swim coaching and staff supervision experience preferred.
• Knowledge of meet administration, competitive and masters swimming.
• Current USA Swimming coach member in good standing or within 3 months of hire, with safety training and background screening.
• Current lifeguard certification, CPR, AED, First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen Administration or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain YMCA safety standards at practices and meets.
• Lead community relations for competitive swimming and coordinate with city swim teams and high school teams.
• Recruit, hire, train, and supervise staff and volunteers.
• Plan and coordinate meets, calendars, entries, and deadlines with local teams and the Evansville Regional Sports Commission.
• Coordinate meet logistics with staff, officials, and volunteers, including pool setup and timing equipment.
• Maintain registrations, eligibility records, attendance, and meet entries using team management software.
• Balance practice scheduling and pool usage with other facility programs and rentals.
• Serve as staff liaison to parent advisory committees and coordinate meetings and recognitions.
