Delano Public Schools is seeking a qualified individual to serve as Competition Cheer Team - Assistant Coach. The role focuses on developing the Competition Cheer program, educating, managing, and supervising enrolled participants.

Responsibilities include planning training sessions, team development, safety, and logistics; recruiting from Delano High School; ensuring compliance with USA Cheer and NFHS rules; budgeting with Recreation and Sports Coordinator.

Qualifications

• Proven experience working as a cheerleading coach.
• Knowledge of competitive cheerleading scoring rubrics and rules is preferred.
• Experience competing as a cheerleader is preferred.
• Stunting certification obtained from USA Cheer or willingness to become certified.
• Ability to collaborate with others on the cheerleading coaching staff to meet long-term needs.
• Motivation to pursue professional development and stay updated on best practices.

• Provide guidance and feedback to help athletes reach their full potential on and off the mat.

• Monitor the physical and mental well-being of athletes.
• Coordinate training schedules, travel arrangements, and other logistics with athletes, parents, and the coordinator.
• Scout and recruit athletes from Delano High School to strengthen the team.
• Ensure compliance with MCCA, USA Cheer, and NFHS rules and regulations.
• Maintain and manage team equipment, including uniforms.
• Develop and teach routines; evolve cheer routines over time.
• Ensure safety guidelines and protocols are followed in all activities.
• Partner with the coordinator to develop and manage the program's budget and fundraisers.

The Head Competition Cheerleading Coach's primary responsibility is to evolve and develop the Competition Cheerleading program and educate, manage, and supervise the enrolled participants.

Responsibilities

• Player Development: Provide guidance and feedback to help athletes reach their full potential on and off the mat.
• Team Management: Oversee team selection, discipline, and morale, ensuring a cohesive and motivated team environment.
• Health and Safety: Monitor the physical and mental well-being of athletes.
• Logistics Coordination: Work with athletes, parents, and the Recreation and Sports Coordinator to organize training schedules, travel arrangements, and other logistical details.
• Recruitment: Scout and recruit talented athletes from Delano High School to strengthen the team.
• Compliance: Ensure the team adheres to MCCA, USA Cheer, and NFHS rules and regulations.
• Equipment Management: Maintain and manage team equipment, including uniforms.
• Choreograph and Teach Routines: Develop, teach, enhance, and evolve cheerleading routines.
• Safety Management: Ensure all cheerleading activities are conducted safely, adhering to safety guidelines and protocols.
• Budget Management: Partner with the Recreation and Sports Coordinator to develop and manage the program's budget, including expenses and fundraisers.

Requirements

• Candidates should:
  • Proven experience working as a cheerleading coach.
  • Knowledge of competitive cheerleading scoring rubrics and rules is preferred.
  • Experience competing as a cheerleader is preferred.
  • Stunting certification obtained from USA Cheer or the willingness to become certified.
  • Ability to collaborate with others on the cheerleading coaching staff to meet the long-term needs of the cheerleading program.
  • The motivation to seek out professional development to stay up to date on best practices and rules to aid in the program's evolution.

Stipend Amount Range:

$1,500 - $2,000 based on enrollment
