Doña Ana County is seeking a Coordinator for court-ordered Competency to Stand Trial (CST) forensic evaluations. The role is on-site at the Doña Ana County Detention Center, coordinating scheduling between detainees and state-contracted examiners to meet timelines and report requirements.
The incumbent will collect CST data, track performance measures, and compile monthly reports for the Health Care Authority BHSD.
Coordinate court-ordered Competency to Stand Trial (CST) forensic evaluations for detainees. Coordinate the scheduling and completion of CST examinations with state-contracted forensic examiners, monitor evaluation and report timelines, maintain accurate program data, and submit reports. The position is based on-site at the Doña Ana County Detention Center (DACDC).
Receive, review, and respond to court orders for Competency to Stand Trial (CST) evaluations for indigent detainees housed at the Doña Ana County Detention Center. Coordinate and schedule CST examinations between detainees and state-contracted forensic examiners in accordance with statutory, court, and program requirements. Monitor assigned CST evaluations to support timely examination completion and submission of required reports. Maintain communication regarding scheduling changes, examination status, and anticipated completion dates.
Collect, enter, and maintain accurate data related to CST referrals, court orders, scheduling timelines, examinations, and evaluation completion status. Track CST performance measures, including orders received, examinations completed, time from court order to scheduled examination, and cases not resulting in completed evaluations. Maintain tracking records and documentation to support program monitoring, compliance, and reporting requirements. Compile and submit required monthly reports to the Health Care Authority Behavioral Health Services Division (HCA BHSD) forensic program coordinator by established deadlines.
Serve as a primary point of contact among the Programs Administrator, Doña Ana County Detention Center, state-contracted forensic examiners, and HCA BHSD regarding CST scheduling, reporting timelines, and process concerns. Communicate scheduling issues, evaluation status, and other matters affecting the timely completion of CST evaluations to appropriate stakeholders. Identify, document, and communicate programmatic or systemic barriers affecting CST evaluation timeliness to appropriate stakeholders for resolution.
Participate in required learning community meetings and other program-related meetings. Collaborate with HCA BHSD and other stakeholders in the development, implementation, and ongoing evaluation of the project. Maintain documentation and records necessary to support compliance with applicable court orders, statutory requirements, program procedures, and reporting expectations.

Knowledge of: The criminal justice system, including court procedures and legal terminology related to Competency to Stand Trial (CST) evaluations. Behavioral health and psychological evaluation processes related to competency assessments. Data collection, reporting, recordkeeping, and program evaluation practices. Administrative procedures, policies, and regulatory requirements applicable to government and correctional settings. Court, statutory, and program requirements applicable to CST evaluations. Principles and practices for maintaining confidential and sensitive information. Computer applications, databases, and electronic systems used for data entry, tracking, scheduling, and reporting.
Skill in: Prioritizing and planning work activities to coordinate CST evaluations and meet established deadlines. Coordinating schedules and communicating effectively with detention center personnel, forensic examiners, court personnel, and state agency representatives. Working independently and collaboratively to accomplish program objectives and resolve scheduling or process concerns. Using computer systems, databases, spreadsheets, and other electronic tools to collect, track, maintain, and report CST data. Maintaining accurate and current records, tracking information, and documentation. Preparing statistical reports and compiling information for program monitoring and compliance. Identifying discrepancies, scheduling conflicts, and process issues and taking appropriate action to address them.
Ability to: Coordinate multiple tasks and prioritize court‑mandated evaluations based on established requirements and deadlines. Interpret and follow court orders, established procedures, and applicable statutory and program requirements. Analyze and interpret data to prepare accurate reports and identify trends, discrepancies, or issues affecting the CST evaluation process. Maintain confidentiality and exercise appropriate discretion when handling sensitive legal, behavioral health, and personal information. Communicate effectively and professionally with diverse stakeholders, including court personnel, forensic examiners, county personnel, and state agencies. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders. Identify and communicate barriers affecting the timely completion of CST evaluations and reports. Adapt to changing priorities, procedures, and program requirements. Work independently within established guidelines and exercise sound judgment when addressing routine problems or seeking appropriate assistance.
