Vaco by Highspring seeks an experienced Compensation Specialist to design, analyze, implement, and administer compensation programs. You will ensure competitive, equitable and compliant practices while partnering with HR, Finance, Payroll, HRIS, and IT to support benchmarking, planning, and analytics.

You will develop job descriptions and role classifications to support internal equity and workforce planning, with a focus on automation, dashboards, and accurate data across systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Business, Finance, Analytics or related field.
  • 3+ years in compensation, total rewards, or HR analytics.
  • Experience with compensation administration & salary benchmarking.
  • Experience with HRIS/HCM systems; SAP SuccessFactors preferred.
  • CCP certification is a plus.

Key Responsibilities
Compensation Specialist
Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Compensation Specialist to support the design, analysis, implementation, and administration of compensation programs. This position will ensure compensation practices are competitive, equitable, data-driven, and compliant with applicable laws and internal policies.

The Compensation Specialist will partner closely with Human Resources, Finance, Payroll, HRIS, IT, and business leadership to support salary benchmarking, compensation planning, job evaluations, pay structures, incentive programs, and workforce analytics.

This role will also be responsible for developing and maintaining accurate job documentation and role descriptions to support job classification, market alignment, internal equity, and workforce planning.

Key Responsibilities
Compensation Systems & HRIS
  • Serve as a subject matter expert for the organization's SAP SuccessFactors Compensation platform.
  • Configure and maintain compensation templates, eligibility rules, budgets, guidelines, workflows, and approval processes.
  • Create and update job descriptions and job families within the HCM system.
  • Create and modify compensation forms, templates, and routing processes.
  • Launch compensation plans, assign budgets, and publish completed compensation forms.
  • Lead system testing, data validation, and reconciliation during compensation cycles and system releases.
  • Partner with HRIS, Payroll, and IT to ensure accurate data integration and downstream processing.
  • Identify opportunities for automation, process improvement, and system enhancements.
Compensation Analytics & Reporting
  • Develop and maintain compensation dashboards and analytical reports for HR and leadership.
  • Analyze compensation data, budget impacts, workforce trends, and compensation outcomes.
  • Support salary benchmarking, pay structure development, and market analysis.
  • Assist with the development and maintenance of pay bands and compensation ranges.
  • Partner with external compensation consultants as needed.
  • Ensure compensation data is accurate, consistent, and properly maintained across HR systems and reporting tools.
  • Translate complex compensation data into clear, actionable insights for HR and business leaders.
Job Documentation & Job Evaluation
  • Develop, write, and maintain clear and accurate job descriptions.
  • Support job evaluation, classification, benchmarking, and organizational alignment.
  • Ensure job descriptions accurately reflect responsibilities, qualifications, and organizational requirements.
  • Partner with HR and business leaders to ensure roles are appropriately aligned within compensation structures.
Training & Process Support
  • Document compensation processes, procedures, and standard operating practices.
  • Develop user guides and other supporting documentation.
  • Assist with training employees and HR partners on compensation systems and processes.
  • Provide ongoing support and guidance to system users.
HR Department Support
  • Participate in HR department meetings and initiatives.
  • Support the development of HR goals, objectives, and processes.
  • Assist with departmental budgeting, planning, and forecasting activities.
  • Provide compensation expertise on broader HR projects and initiatives.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business, Finance, Analytics, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in compensation, total rewards, HR analytics, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience with compensation administration and salary benchmarking.
  • Experience working with HRIS/HCM systems and compensation modules.
  • SAP SuccessFactors Compensation experience strongly preferred.
  • Certified Compensation Professional (CCP) certification is a plus.
Technical Skills
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including data analysis and reporting.
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint.
  • Experience generating HCM reports and conducting ad hoc reporting.
  • Strong analytical and reporting capabilities.
  • Experience working with relational databases and/or reporting tools is preferred.
  • Ability to analyze large amounts of compensation and workforce data and communicate findings effectively.
