Position Overview, Duties And Responsibilities

The Compensation Manager supports the execution and ongoing management of Crown’s global compensation programs under the direction of the Director of Compensation. This role partners closely with HR, Finance, and business leaders to ensure compensation practices are competitive, equitable, compliant, and aligned with the company’s job architecture and reward philosophy. The Compensation Manager plays a critical role in translating compensation strategy into operational practice, providing subject‑matter expertise, data‑driven insights, and day‑to‑day governance while escalating complex or exception‑based decisions to the Director of Compensation.

Compensation Responsibilities
  • Support the Director of Compensation in the design, implementation, and maintenance of Crown’s compensation strategies, policies, and structures.
  • Manage the day‑to‑day administration of Crown’s global compensation programs, ensuring consistent application across roles, levels, and geographies.
  • Lead the operational execution of Crown’s global job architecture and job‑level framework using Mercer IPE methodology, partnering with HR on job evaluations and role alignment.
  • Serve as a key contributor to the ongoing maintenance of Crown’s cloud‑based HRIS system, with accountability for data quality and compensation‑related configurations.
  • Conduct market research, benchmarking, and salary survey participation to support competitive pay positioning and informed decision‑making.
  • Prepare and analyze compensation data to support annual budgeting, merit planning, incentive planning, and bonus accrual and payout processes.
  • Act as a trusted compensation advisor to HR Business Partners and Finance teams, providing guidance on salary range positioning, offers, promotions, and pay adjustments within approved frameworks.
  • Review and manage compensation requests, including new hires, promotions, and adjustments, escalating recommendations and exceptions to the Director of Compensation as appropriate.
  • Support the administration of specialized compensation programs, including:
  • International Transfer & Visa Program (in coordination with legal and tax partners)
  • International tax and cross‑border assignments with external vendor KPMG
  • Relocation programs with external vendor Cornerstone
  • Assist the Director of Compensation in preparing materials, analysis, and data for senior leadership discussions.
  • Monitor and support compliance with applicable labor laws, regulations, and internal governance standards.
  • Identify opportunities to improve compensation processes, tools, documentation, and manager education.
Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Experience working with cloud‑based HRIS platforms such as SAP SuccessFactors or Workday.
  • Strong knowledge of compensation principles, job architecture, market pricing, and pay governance, with general familiarity across other HR functional areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage compensation initiatives and projects with guidance from senior leadership.
  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to translate data into clear recommendations.
  • Minimum of 5+ years of experience in compensation, including market analysis, salary survey participation, job evaluation, and program administration.
  • Experience partnering with HR Business Partners and Finance.
  • Professional certifications such as CPP, PHR, SPHR, SHRM‑CP, or SHRM‑SCP preferred.
  • Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain compensation concepts to non‑technical audiences.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
  • High standards of integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
Travel
  • Domestic and International travel requirements approximately 15%
