Job summary

Bloomberg L.P. is seeking a Staff Accountant for Compensation Accounting in New York. The role emphasizes accurate month-end close, journal entries, and close collaboration with teams across Finance and Accounting.

You will contribute to internal and external reporting and support audits. The ideal candidate has 3+ years in reconciliations, strong Excel skills, and a collaborative mindset to prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred but not required
• 3+ years of experience, with a strong focus in reconciliations
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including Lookups and pivot tables
• A collaborative attitude and the ability to prioritize tasks as needed
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Strong time management and work organization skills
• Public Accounting Experience (preferred)

Responsibilities

• Complete the month-end close cycle, including preparation and posting journal entries
• Perform variance analysis on actual vs. actual, actual vs budget/forecast, investigate discrepancies and explain the driver
• Assist with financial reporting and internal management reporting
• Prepare and maintain account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of reconciling items
• Support statutory, internal and external audits
• Work on special projects and ad hoc analysis, as needed
• Partner with teams outside of Compensation Accounting to provide value added analysis
• Support internal and external stakeholders with all ensuing requests.
• Identify opportunities to improve efficiency of existing processes and propose enhancements
• Bring a positive, proactive attitude to a high-performing and collaborative team.
