Job summary

Bloomberg seeks a Staff Accountant, Compensation Accounting in New York to drive the month-end close, perform reconciliations, and deliver accurate financial reporting. You will analyze variances, support audits, and partner with cross-functional teams to provide insightful data and process improvements.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred but not required.
  • 3+ years of experience with reconciliations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel with lookups and pivot tables.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills.
  • Collaborative attitude and the ability to prioritize tasks.

Responsibilities

  • Complete the month-end close cycle with journal entries.
  • Perform variance analysis of actual vs forecast and explain drivers.
  • Assist with financial and internal management reporting.
  • Prepare and maintain account reconciliations and resolve reconciling items.
  • Support statutory audits and internal/external audits.
  • Contribute to ad hoc projects and analysis.
  • Collaborate with Compensation Accounting and other teams for value-added insights.
  • Support stakeholders with data requests.
  • Identify process improvements to increase efficiency.
  • Maintain a positive, proactive attitude in a high-performing team.

We’ll trust you to:
  • Complete the month-end close cycle, including preparation and posting journal entries
  • Perform variance analysis on actual vs. actual, actual vs budget/forecast, investigate discrepancies and explain the driver
  • Assist with financial reporting and internal management reporting
  • Prepare and maintain account reconciliations, ensuring accuracy and timely resolution of reconciling items
  • Support statutory, internal and external audits
  • Work on special projects and ad hoc analysis, as needed
  • Partner with teams outside of Compensation Accounting to provide value-added analysis
  • Support internal and external stakeholders with all ensuing requests.
  • Identify opportunities to improve efficiency of existing processes and propose enhancements
  • Bring a positive, proactive attitude to a high-performing and collaborative team.
You’ll need to have:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA preferred but not required
  • 3+ years of experience, with a strong focus in reconciliations
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel including Lookups and pivot tables
  • A collaborative attitude and the ability to prioritize tasks as needed
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong time management and work organization skills

Salary Range = 85,000-120,000 USD Annual+ Benefits + Bonus

The referenced salary range is based on the company’s good faith belief at the time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on factors such as geographic location, work experience, market conditions, education/training and skill level.
