Riverview Animal Hospital in Durango, CO is seeking a dedicated Veterinary Room Assistant to join our 10-doctor practice. You will support clinical teams with patient handling, record-keeping, and compassionate client communication.

We offer a collaborative environment with opportunities to work on diagnostics, surgery, and wellness services. You must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and assist with dogs up to 130 pounds as needed.

Qualifications

• Veterinary hospital or canine and feline handling experience required.
• Must be able to lift approximately 50 pounds and walk dogs up to 130 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Professional client communication and education obtaining medical histories and symptoms along with electronic medical record keeping skills.
• After the appointment – answer questions the client may have, insure that client has received and understands all medications, after care, client education, and follow up appointments needed.
• Provide excellent customer service, and insure that both pets and clients are comfortable and have their needs meet.
• Laboratory procedures preparing or preforming: hematology, cytology, urinalysis, blood chemistry, and fecals.
• Diagnostic imaging - Radiographs and Ultrasound
• Restrain pets for veterinarians and nurses
• Anticipate doctors needs for well and sick pet appointments
• Provide compassionate care for pets, monitor, record, and report physical signs of pets here for appointments or treatments. May assist with hospitalized patients as well.
