Job summary

My Vet Animal Clinic in Eureka, MO, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians with patient care, monitoring hospitalized pets, and client education. The position involves routine in-house labs, radiographs, and assist with surgical procedures, with a pay range of $16–$25 per hour.

Ideal candidates will have veterinary experience, be able to lift up to 25 pounds (assistance for heavier lifts), and demonstrate strong communication skills, compassion, and teamwork

Qualifications

• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; assist with heavier lifts.
• Practice OSHA safety techniques including PPE.
• Basic math and the ability to calculate medication dosages.
• Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS Office apps.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians in patient care and surgery as needed.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams with client education.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Obtain and process blood, stool, and other samples; run in-house lab tests.
• Take and develop radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Maintain clean and stocked exam and lab areas; support team to keep public areas tidy.
