Job summary

Banfield Pet Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in delivering high-quality care for companion animals. The role involves client education on wellness plans, preventive care, and hospital services, while maintaining a safe and efficient hospital environment.

Responsibilities include assisting with procedures as allowed by state practice acts, ensuring clear client communication, and upholding the hospital's standards for patient safety and care.

Qualifications

• The Veterinary Assistant supports veterinarians and veterinary technicians in ensuring quality care.
• Educate clients on pet health and hospital services.
• Maintain clean, safe hospital environment.

Responsibilities

• Live and exemplify the Five Principles of Mars, Inc. within self and team.
• Act as the extra eyes, ears and hands for the veterinarian to maximize productivity.
• Communicate with veterinarian, technicians and associates to maintain patient flow.
• Provide professional, efficient service and assist with procedures as allowed by state acts.
• Educate clients about wellness plans, preventive care, and hospital services.
• Obtain history from clients and maintain medical charts.
• Ensure safety of pets, clients and staff by following protocols and keeping areas clean.
• Assist with surgery as applicable.
• Utilize NAVTA guidelines for assistant skills and duties.
• Mentor other paraprofessionals in the hospital.
