Job summary

Petco is hiring a Veterinary Assistant to support Vetco Total Care hospitals. You will greet clients and pets, record vital signs, and help maintain the medical records in a fast-paced veterinary setting.

Responsibilities include assisting veterinarians with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia, handling medications, and ensuring a clean, organized hospital environment while delivering compassionate customer service to pet owners. Prior vet practice experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• Preferred 1 year vet practice experience.
• Excellent written and verbal communication.
• Compassionate and professional demeanor.
• Strong telephone and computer skills.
• Team player with willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Greet clients and patients, record vital signs, and enter data into EMR.
• Assist doctors with appointments, surgery, dentistry, and euthanasia.
• Handle medications and maintain the EMR.
• Schedule appointments and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for procedures and monitor anesthesia.
• Provide in-hospital treatments including injections and IV fluids.
• Train new staff and maintain hospital cleanliness.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
