Job summary

Roane Veterinary Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians with patient care, monitor hospitalized pets, and assist with surgical procedures in a small-town clinic setting.

You will perform in-house lab work, educate clients on care and procedures, and help manage inventory and radiography with a strong emphasis on client service and teamwork.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care and procedures.
• Take histories, vitals, and weights during outpatient exams and educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vital signs during procedures.
• Collect samples and perform in-house lab testing; prepare specimens for outside labs.
• Obtain radiographs following safety procedures and maintain equipment.
• Provide basic animal handling and restraining during exams.
• Administer medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments as directed.
• Maintain cleanliness of rooms and restock supplies; support team in keeping public areas clean.
• Demonstrate warmth and professionalism with clients and compassionate care for patients.
• Communicate treatment plans and client concerns with the veterinary team.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
