Job summary

Pinnacle Animal Hospital is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in patient care, examinations, and surgical procedures. The role includes handling specimens, preparing medications, and educating clients on treatments.

Applicants should have weekend availability and prior veterinary exposure. While lifting up to 25 pounds is required, the clinic provides PPE and a collaborative team environment in the Asheville area.

Qualifications

• Weekend availability as required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 25 pounds; assist with heavier lifts with help.
• Practice OSHA safety techniques including PPE.
• Basic math and ability to calculate medication dosages.
• Basic computer skills, MS Office familiarity.
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized patients and manage routine in-house labs.
• Prepare prescriptions and educate clients about care and procedures.
• Assist with surgical procedures and monitor vitals during anesthesia.
• Manage supplies, lab specimens, and equipment; keep areas clean and organized.
• Communicate with clients and team about patient plans and concerns.
