Job summary

Creek’s Edge Animal Hospital in Hainesport, NJ, is seeking a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians with patient care, monitor hospitalized pets, and educate clients. The role includes handling specimens, basic lab work and radiographs, and ensuring clean, well-stocked exam rooms.

Qualifications

• Ability to work on weekends as required.
• Previous veterinary experience preferred.
• Ability to lift patients and carry equipment up to 25 pounds; assist with heavier lifts as needed.
• Practice OSHA safety techniques including PPE.
• Basic math and ability to calculate medication dosages.
• Basic computer skills, familiarity with MS Office applications.
• Strong communication skills to ensure patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist veterinarians and technicians with patient care and treatment.
• Monitor hospitalized pets and manage routine in-house lab work.
• Obtain samples (blood, stool) and prepare specimens for labs.
• Take, develop and maintain radiographs following safety procedures.
• Provide basic animal handling and restrain animals during exams.
• Administer vaccines, medications, and treatments as directed by the veterinarian.
• Restock and clean exam rooms and equipment; support client communication.
