Fletcher Animal Hospital in Fletcher, NC seeks a Veterinary Assistant to support veterinarians and technicians in patient care and treatments. The role includes monitoring hospitalized pets, preparing prescriptions, running routine in-house tests, and educating clients on care and procedures.

The ideal candidate will assist with surgical procedures, manage lab samples, and help maintain a clean, organized clinic. Weekend availability and basic computer skills are preferred.

Responsabilités

• Assist veterinarians in veterinary medicine and surgery as needed.
• Take histories, vital signs, and weights during outpatient exams; educate clients.
• Prepare patients for surgery and monitor vitals during procedures.
• Obtain samples and perform in-house lab work; prepare specimens for outside labs.
• Take and develop radiographs following safety procedures.
• Handle and restrain animals during exams as needed.
• Administer and monitor medications, anesthesia, vaccines, and treatments.
• Clean and restock exam rooms; maintain equipment; assist with other duties.
• Demonstrate warmth, courtesy and professionalism with clients and patients.
• Communicate with veterinarians and team about patient plans and concerns.
• Any other duties as assigned.
