Job summary

Joliet Area Community Hospice is seeking a Triage Assistant to ensure patient needs are communicated during their shift by answering incoming calls and handling clerical tasks. The position involves data entry, report distribution, and supporting other departments with clerical projects.

This role offers a weekend/holiday rotation and varies days and hours, with a focus on compassionate communication and maintaining patient confidentiality.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree preferred.
• Hospice experience preferred.
• Knowledge of medical/behavioral health terminology.
• Demonstrated medical office experience.
• Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking.

Responsibilities

• Answer incoming calls from patients and caregivers clearly, kindly, and compassionately.
• Communicate patient needs to the Lightways team and ensure follow-up.
• Collaborate with weekend staff to meet patient needs in a timely manner as directed by Supervisor.
• Complete audit work as directed.
• Follow protocol and procedure to patient confidentiality.
