Job summary

The Center for Disability Services is seeking a Teaching Assistant for our Prospect Center school in Queensbury, NY. Join a mission-driven team helping students with disabilities achieve growth and independence in an engaging classroom setting.

Responsibilities include supporting instruction, assisting with daily living activities, and implementing behavior plans under supervision. NYS TA certification must be obtained within one year of hire.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; college credits preferred.
• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Assist in instructional activities as directed by the teacher, including direct instruction of students.
• May assume responsibility for the class when the teacher is absent.
• Follow mobility, dining, and direct care protocols as directed by the teacher or therapist.
• Assist with activities of daily living and prepare the learning environment.
• Support therapeutic goals within classroom activities in cooperation with the therapist.
• Follow behavioral plans and communicate student information to supervisors and team.
