Job summary

Greater Albany Public Schools is seeking a Special Education Assistant at Waverly Elementary School. Under the supervision of a teacher, you will support instructional activities, work with students individually or in small groups, and help prepare instructional materials.

Responsibilities include maintaining classroom routines, assisting students with diverse learning needs, and supporting the development of an inclusive, productive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Two years of college (minimum 72 credits) or an Associate degree or higher, or pass the Highly Qualified exam.
• Under direct teacher supervision, assists in developing instructional programs and works with students individually or in small groups.
• Prepares instructional materials, maintains classroom discipline, and conducts planned activities using teacher designated methods.
• Provides assistance for students who are physically or intellectually disabled or have other learning needs.
