Job summary

Greater Albany Public Schools (GAPS) is seeking a Special Education Assistant at Waverly Elementary School. This role supports students under teacher supervision, prepares materials, and helps with instructional activities within a 179-day, 9-month calendar and 7-hour daily shift.

The position offers salary between $17.61 and $21.69 per hour, with reporting to the Building Principal. Qualifications include two years of college (72 credits), an Associate’s degree or higher, or passing the Highly

• Requires two years of college (minimum 72 credits in academic coursework), Associates Degree or higher, or pass the Highly Qualified exam.
• Under direct teacher supervision, performs a variety of tasks assisting a teacher in the development of an instructional program by working with students individually or in small groups.
• Prepares instructional materials, maintains classroom discipline, and conducts planned activities using teacher designated methods and materials.
• Provides assistance for the physically and intellectually disabled, learning disabled, emotionally disturbed, etc.
