Job summary

RSU 63 in Holden, ME is seeking a dependable Bus Aide for morning and afternoon routes on a special education bus.

You will ride with students, assist with behavior, seating, and interact with the driver to keep a safe, orderly bus environment. This is a part-time, school-year position with approximately 20 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Patient, dependable and comfortable working with students.
• Able to respond calmly to student needs and behaviors.
• Able to work cooperatively with transportation and school staff.
• Must possess a valid driver's license.
• Must complete the Maine Department of Education Criminal History Record Check (CHRC) and receive the required Maine DOE approval.

Responsibilities

• Ride with students during morning and afternoon transportation.
• Assist with student behavior, redirection, and assigned seating arrangements.
• Monitor students while the bus is moving and encourage safe, appropriate, and respectful behavior.
• Work cooperatively with the bus driver to maintain a safe, positive, and orderly environment.
• Support students with appropriate activities, including use of the television available on the bus.
• Report safety or behavioral concerns to the bus driver and Transportation Director.
• Maintain student confidentiality at all times.
