Job summary

Springtown Independent School District is seeking a Special Education Aide to support students with disabilities in a self-contained classroom at Springtown Elementary. This role works under a certified teacher and principal supervision to implement instructional programs and manage behavior.

The position requires a high school diploma or GED, with additional qualifications including a Texas aide certificate and some college coursework.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED required.
Associate’s degree or two years of college or higher-level coursework preferred.
Valid Texas educational aide certificate required.
Ability to work with children with disabilities.
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions.
Ability to communicate effectively.
Knowledge of general office equipment.
Some experience working with children.

Responsibilities

Help teacher prepare instructional materials and classroom displays.
Help maintain a neat and orderly classroom.
Assist with inventory, care, and maintenance of equipment.
Help teacher keep administrative records and prepare required reports.
Provide orientation and assistance to substitute teachers.
Assist students with physical disabilities including transfers and personal care.
Help manage behavior and intervene in crises as needed.
Recognize and adapt to individual student needs and develop motor skills with small groups.
