Job summary

The City of Lewisville is seeking a part-time Animal Care Attendant to perform basic animal care, shelter maintenance, and housekeeping tasks. You will observe animals for health, assist with intake and routine procedures, and ensure a clean, welcoming shelter environment.

Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends. Starting pay ranges from $14.65 to $17.17 per hour, with incremental increases based on years of service.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred but not required.
• Six (6) months of prior animal care or related experience or training preferred but not required.
• Any combination of related education, experience, certifications, and licenses that will result in a candidate successfully performing the essential functions of the job is an acceptable substitute for the above specified education and experience requirements.

Responsibilities

• Clean, disinfect, and sanitize animal kennels, cages, food and water bowls, litter boxes, traps, and other shelter equipment.
• Feed and provide fresh water to animals according to established feeding schedules and veterinary instructions.
• Observe animals daily for signs of illness, injury, or behavioral changes and promptly report concerns to supervisors.
• Safely handle, restrain, move, and care for a variety of animals, including dogs, cats, and other domestic animals.
• Maintain cleanliness of shelter offices, public areas, restrooms, laundry facilities, storage rooms, and workspaces.
