Job summary

Area Agency on Aging of Northwest Arkansas is seeking an Assistant Cook for the Fayetteville Senior Activity Center. This on-site, full-time hourly role involves assisting the Food Service Manager in meal preparation, serving meals, packaging for homebound delivery, and helping with safety and cleanliness standards.

The position requires basic English proficiency, 3 months of food prep experience, and ability to lift up to 25 pounds, with further duties assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• Education of Grammar school or higher preferred.
• At least 3 months experience in food preparation.
• Ability to speak, read, write, and understand English.
• Ability to stand or sit for long periods of time.
• Ability to lift objects up to 25 pounds.
• Ability to travel both short and long distances.
• Ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to grasp, reach, bend, stoop, kneel, squat, climb and move about freely.

Responsibilities

• Assists Food Service Manager in the preparation of meals following menu plans and preparation instructions.
• May operate standard kitchen equipment and follow safety guidelines for equipment.
• Assists in setting up and serving meals according to portion guidelines.
• Assists in packaging meals for delivery to homebound clients and aids in delivering with a driver.
• Participates in cleaning and maintaining safety, health, and fire prevention standards.
• Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.
