Job summary

Gravitas is seeking a reliable Dietary Cook to join our assisted living team. Responsibilities include preparing nutritious meals that meet residents' dietary needs and maintaining a clean, safe kitchen.

You will follow planned menus, assist with food prep, monitor temperatures, and collaborate with nursing staff to accommodate dietary orders. Previous healthcare or restaurant cooking experience preferred, ServSafe certification encouraged.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Previous cooking experience preferred (healthcare, assisted living, or restaurant).
• Knowledge of safe food handling practices and sanitation standards.
• Food Handler’s Permit or ServSafe certification (or willingness to obtain).
• Ability to follow recipes and dietary modifications.
• Strong time management and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve meals per planned menus and dietary requirements.
• Ensure all food is prepared in compliance with health, safety, and sanitation regulations.
• Follow special diet orders (mechanical soft, diabetic-friendly, low sodium, etc.).
• Maintain portion control and proper food presentation.
• Assist with food prep, cooking, and serving during meal times.
• Monitor food temperatures and proper storage of all food items.
• Keep kitchen, equipment, and work areas clean and organized.
• Collaborate with nursing staff and administration regarding resident dietary needs.
• Assist with inventory, food ordering, and minimizing waste.
