Job summary

Commonwealth Senior Living seeks a part-time Resident Care Associate (RCA) to assist seniors in Assisted Living and Memory Care. The role includes daily task support, mobility aid, and careful observation per care plans in a respectful, homelike setting.

Open Interviews are held weekly in Chesapeake. Requires CPR/First Aid or willingness to obtain, and weekend availability. Training and team collaboration with the Resident Care Director are expected.

Qualifications

• Compassionate disposition and a desire to serve; prior experience not required.
• Ability to fulfill both physical and emotional needs of residents.
• Direct-Care or other state-specific certification required, or willingness to obtain.
• CPR and First Aid certification, or willingness to obtain per policy.
• Upholds resident confidentiality.
• Flexible availability, including weekends, to ensure resident care and services.
• Demonstrates sincere compassion and genuine concern for seniors and families.
• Proficient with basic office equipment, including PCs, to maintain performance.
• Aligns with Commonwealth Senior Living's mission to improve lives.

Responsibilities

• Directly assist residents with daily tasks and communicate care changes to the Resident Care Director.
• Aid residents with mobility using proper techniques and equipment to prevent accidents.
• Make routine care rounds to meet needs per individualized care plans.
• Assist with lifts, moves, and transport using proper body mechanics.
• Maintain skin integrity by changing incontinent residents and preventing damage.
• Document daily care activities per policy and regulatory standards.
• Report resident issues promptly to the supervisor.
• Respond politely to inquiries from residents, visitors, and staff.
• Familiarize with individualized care plans and provide support accordingly.
• Contribute observations to care planning and interact respectfully with all stakeholders.
• Offer physical, emotional, and psychosocial support to residents and families.
• Adhere to residents' rights and report abuse or rights violations.
• Implement safety and infection control procedures, including hand hygiene.
• Maintain a safe working environment and participate in required trainings.
• Maintain regular contact with the Resident Care Director.
