Job summary

Holland Home in Grand Rapids, MI is seeking a Resident Assistant to provide direct, hands-on support to residents in a faith-based, skilled nursing and long-term care setting. You will work closely with nursing staff to promote comfort, safety, and emotional well-being, delivering care with dignity and respect.

Responsibilities include assisting with ADLs, offering companionship, monitoring changes in condition, and ensuring a clean, safe living environment.

Qualifications

• Prior experience in resident care or a healthcare setting preferred.
• Memory care experience strongly preferred.
• Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English.
• Strong communication and observation skills.
• Compassionate, dependable, and team-oriented.
• Physical ability to stand for extended periods of time.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, transferring, and feeding.
• Provide emotional support, companionship, and reassurance to residents.
• Monitor and report changes in residents’ physical, cognitive, or emotional condition.
• Encourage independence while ensuring resident safety and dignity.
• Maintain a clean, safe, and supportive living environment.
• Respond promptly to resident call lights and requests.
• Collaborate with nursing staff and interdisciplinary team members to support coordinated, high-quality care.
