Job summary

New Perspective is seeking a compassionate Driver to transport residents to activities and appointments. You will perform safety checks, operate the community van, and assist residents getting on and off the bus, ensuring safety equipment is used correctly.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, a valid license, and DOT certification. Flexibility to work weekends and a focus on resident care are essential for success in this role.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED equivalent.
• Valid Driver's license in good standing.
• DOT certification.
• Ability to work in a team with effective communication and interpersonal skills.
• Empathy for residents, families and team members; strong problem-solving skills.
• Computer skills and ability to interact with electronic devices.
• Proficient English communication, both written and verbal.
• Flexible schedule, including weekends.
• Previous experience with seniors preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs safety checks on the community van before operation.
• Drives the community van safely following traffic regulations.
• Assists residents on/off the bus ensuring safety equipment is used correctly.
• Keeps resident information binder up to date on the bus.
• Maintains timeliness of assignments and workload management.
• Regulates heating and cooling for passenger comfort.
• Follows policy guidelines in case of an accident.
• Contacts backup drivers to ensure coverage for all trips.
• Takes the van for repairs/maintenance and returns to parking location.
