Job summary

Samaritan Daytop Village seeks a Security Counselor to provide security services and support safety for clients, staff, and visitors at our New York facility. You will monitor activity, assist with check-ins, and maintain calm during daily operations.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent, prior security experience, and proficiency with Microsoft Office and EMR systems. Evening/overnight shifts may apply to ensure continuous coverage and safety across the site.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalency required.
• 1 year security guard/officer experience preferred.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office, EMR, and able to learn new technologies.
• Experience working with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Provides daily scheduled runs, observes activity and traffic in assigned areas, and notes observations in the communications log.
• Supports clients with the check-in process, monitoring, assessing behavior, and overall well-being.
• Uses DHS CARES to complete Intake Check-in and Discharge Conditional Intake.
• Conducts hourly rounds to secure doors, belongings, order, and agency property.
• Assists with morning wake-up of clients and safety checks for ill or mobility-impaired clients.
• Participates in evacuation drills and escorts individuals within the site.
• Handles crisis interventions and diffuses physical altercations as needed.
• Participates in daily locker searches and monitors entrance/exit at the site.
