Job summary

Samaritan Daytop Village is hiring a Security Counselor to support safety and a clean environment for clients, staff, and visitors in a New York facility. The role requires monitoring, check-ins, and coordinated responses to incidents.

Responsibilities include rounds, crisis intervention, escorts, and safeguarding property. High school diploma or GED and security experience preferred; proficient with MS Office and EMR systems is expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required or equivalent.
• 1 year of Security Guard/Officer experience preferred.
• Computer literacy including MS Office and EMR; ability to learn new technologies and databases.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily scheduled runs and monitor activity; document observations.
• Assist with client check-in and overall wellbeing; observe behavior and safety.
• Utilize CARES/CARES client system for intake check-ins and Discharge Conditional Intake.
• Conduct hourly rounds to secure doors and protect property.
• Assist with morning wake-ups for clients and safety checks for illness or mobility issues.
• Participate in evacuation drills and escort individuals within the site.
• Handle crisis interventions and diffuse conflicts as needed.
• Support with routine locker searches and monitor entrance/exit logs.
