Job summary

Samaritan Daytop Village is seeking a Security Counselor to provide safety, monitor activity, and support clients, staff, and visitors in a residential facility serving New Yorkers across the city and greater area.

Under supervision, you will perform hourly rounds, assist with check-ins and wellbeing, respond to crises, escort individuals within the site, and participate in drills to maintain a secure, orderly environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• At least 1 year of security guard/officer experience preferred.
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office and EMR systems.
• Experience working with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily security runs and monitor activity; document observations.
• Assist clients with check-in, monitoring, and well-being assessments.
• Use CARES system for intake and conditional check-in/discharge.
• Perform hourly rounds to secure doors and protect property.
• Assist with morning wake-ups and safety checks for ill or mobility-impaired clients.
• Participate in evacuation and fire drills.
• Escort individuals within the site.
• Handle crisis interventions and diffuse altercations.
• Conduct searches of client lockers.
• Monitor entrances and departures.
