Job summary

Maple Villa LTC in Ontario is seeking a Registered Practical Nurse to provide professional nursing care under the direction of an RN, in accordance with the College of Nurses of Ontario Standards of Practice and the home’s policies.

You will oversee care delivered by non-registered staff and ensure resident care plans are implemented with accuracy and compassion, while maintaining high standards of infection control and documentation.

Qualifications

• Current Certificate of Competence from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
• Gerontology Certificate preferred.
• Knowledge of the Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI-LTCF).
• Infection control practices knowledge.
• Excellent communication and the ability to work independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Performs duties of the registered practical nurse as per job routines.
• Participates in formulation and review of policies and procedures, goals and objectives.
• Orders, receives and administers prescribed medications and treatments.
• Observes and monitors residents and reports changes in status.
• Contributes to development and evaluation of resident care plans.
• Assists with admitting, discharging and transferring residents.
• Updates non-registered staff on orders and care changes.
