Job summary

Santa Maria Post Acute in Santa Maria, CA is seeking a compassionate Respiratory Therapist (RT) to assess, treat, and monitor residents with respiratory conditions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team.

The RT will perform respiratory assessments, administer treatments, manage oxygen therapy, and educate residents and families on respiratory care and equipment while ensuring adherence to facility policies and infection control guidelines.

Qualifications

• Current Respiratory Therapist license/credential in CA.
• CPR/BLS certification.
• Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Therapy program.
• Experience in skilled nursing facility, post-acute care, hospital or similar setting preferred.
• Strong assessment, communication, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory assessments and monitor residents for changes in respiratory status.
• Provide respiratory treatments and therapies as ordered by physicians.
• Administer and monitor oxygen therapy and other respiratory support.
• Provide nebulizer treatments and other prescribed respiratory treatments.
• Assist with management and monitoring of tracheostomies and related respiratory equipment.
• Perform suctioning and other respiratory procedures within scope of practice.
• Monitor residents' response to treatments and report changes to healthcare providers.
• Maintain accurate documentation of respiratory assessments, treatments, and responses.
• Educate residents and families regarding respiratory care, equipment, and disease management.
• Collaborate with nursing staff and physicians to develop individualized care plans.
• Follow infection control, safety, and facility policies.
• Ensure respiratory equipment is cleaned, maintained, and functioning.
• Respond to respiratory emergencies and changes in residents' condition.
• Participate in care conferences and interdisciplinary meetings.
