Qualifications

• Current driver’s license and excellent driving record are required.
• Previous experience in patient transportation or a similar role preferred.
• High school diploma or GED preferred.
• Excellent driving skills and knowledge of traffic laws and safety regulations.
• Compassion, patience, and empathy in working with seniors.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all interactions.

Responsibilities

• Safely drives residents to medical appointments, outings, and other destinations according to assigned schedule
• Adheres to traffic laws, regulations, and facility policies to ensure safety of passengers
• Assists residents into and out of vehicle
• Secures passengers’ wheelchairs to restraining devices to stabilize wheelchairs while driving
• Communicates effectively with residents, families, and staff to coordinate transportation schedules and ensure resident needs are met
• Communicates with administrative staff regularly to receive instructions or report delays and disruptions of service
• Maintains the cleanliness and safety of the vehicle, performing routine inspections, refueling and reporting maintenance needs
• Keeps records of trips and behavior of passengers
