OVERALLJOB PURPOSE
Theprimaryresponsibilityofthispositionisto administermedicationstoresidentsandassistwith other aspects of their daily care and routine. In assisted living and memory care, this role also ensures safety, promotes dignity, and supports engagement for residents with cognitive or physical challenges.
MINIMUMJOBQUALIFICATIONSANDREQUIREMENTS
- HighSchoolDiplomaorequivalent
- Sixmonthsofrelatedexperienceand/ortrainingorequivalentcombinationofeducationand experience
- Appropriatecertification,asrequiredbythe state
- Previousexperienceinseniorlivingpreferred
- Attention to detail to administer and accurately record the administration of medications for residentsasprescribedbythephysicianinaccordancewithestablishedpoliciesandprocedures of Sunshine Retirement Living and applicable state/federal regulations
- Demonstratedabilitytocommunicatepolitelyandeffectively(inEnglish),bothverballyandin writing, with residents and staff
- Meetstate-relatedrequirements(ifapplicabletoposition)
- Abilitytoworkinateamsettingandbeapositiveteamplayer
- Maintainapositive,respectful,andprofessionalapproachwithcoworkersandresidents
- Possessexcellentcustomerandorganizationalskills
- Abilitytoworkundertimeconstraintswithlittlesupervisionandmeetdepartmentdeadlines
- Training or willingness to train in dementia care practices, including redirection, validation, and behavioral support techniques
- Satisfactorily pass Sunshine’s and state-regulated criminal record clearance, health screening and
- TB clearance (if applicable)
ESSENTIALJOBDUTIESANDRESPONSIBILITIES
- Provideresidentswithmedicationadministrationandtreatmentassistanceaccordingtohealthcareprovider’s orders
- Monitorhealth,safety,andwell-beingoftheresidents.Promptlyreportanychangesinresident’sphysicalconditionand/orbehaviortoHealthServices Director or Health Services Coordinator
- Accuratelymaintainresidentrecordsregardingmedicationdistribution,leisureactivities, incidents, and observations
- Properlystoremedicationsandequipmentandkeepsthemedicationroomcleanandorderly
- Ensuresprescriptionlabelandstorageproceduresmeetstatestandard
- Properlyfollowshift-changeproceduresanddocumentation
- Assistwithactivitiesofdailylivingsuchasbathing,dressing,andeating
- Support residents with memory loss by using patience, empathy, and specialized communication techniques
- Encourageand/orremindresidentstoparticipateinactivities.Promotepurposeful engagement that matches residents’ cognitive abilities and personal preferences
- Assistinkeepingtheenvironmentsafeandhappyforresidents
- Implement elopement-prevention and other safety measures specific to memory care residents
- Immediatelyrespondtoresidentemergencies;providefirstaidassistance;debriefanddocument incident following company procedures
- Accurately document medication administration, care provided, and observations in electronic health records per company policy
- PerformsotherdutiesasassignedbySupervisor
