Job summary

Ochsner Health is seeking a qualified Physical Therapy Assistant to provide routine treatment under the supervision of a licensed PT. You will document patient progress in daily notes and summaries and ensure care aligns with the plan of care.

The role requires an Associate's degree, PTA license or eligibility, BLS, and strong communication, data entry and Windows skills to support patient rehabilitation in a multidisciplinary team.

Qualifications

• Required - Associate's degree from an accredited Physical Therapy Assistant Program.
• Current PTA license in the state of practice or eligibility for licensure by examination or reciprocity.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association.
• Must have computer skills and dexterity for data entry and retrieval of patient information.
• Proficient with Windows-style applications and keyboard.
• Effective verbal and written communication, transferable to various levels of patient care.
• Strong organizational and interpersonal abilities.

Responsibilities

• Performs physical therapy treatments under the supervision of a licensed physical therapist.
• Documents changes in patient status and reassessment notes to the therapist.
• Maintains patient records according to standards and policies.
• Participates in staff and committee projects.
• Aims to achieve established productivity levels set by administration.
• Educates and trains others within the discipline when required.
• Adapts communication and approach to different patient populations.
