Job summary

Norristown State Hospital seeks a Psychiatric Aide to provide direct patient-centered care under RN supervision, assist with daily living activities, and monitor patient behavior to support progress. You will document observations and participate in safety practices within a structured hospital setting.

The role includes 40 hours per week, a rotating schedule across shifts, and standard benefits offered by the Commonwealth. Overtime and travel may be required as needed.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of the Aide Trainee program or equivalent Federal Government title.
• Certification as a Nurse Aide or Nursing Assistant through the Pennsylvania Department of Health.
• Six months of experience in the care, activities, and personal guidance of individuals with mental health or physical illness or disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct, patient-centered care under the guidance of a Registered Nurse.
• Assist patients with daily living activities and personal hygiene.
• Monitor patient behavior and report changes or concerns to nursing staff.
• Respond to medical or psychiatric emergencies following established procedures.
• Document observations, patient information, and tasks in a clear and accurate manner.
